Writing Goals

Goals, plans, resolutions, they all mean the same thing- make a list/plan and stick to it.  I love lists, I make them for everything.  But I have the worst luck with goals.  I start off great and quickly get sidetracked.  Life has a habit of getting in the way.  I squeeze in writing in between work, kids, and a husband.  It can’t take a front seat, but I don’t want it to get shoved to the side either.

In the hopes of keeping on track with my writing during July, my busiest summer month, I am joining Camp NaNoWriMo.  Yes, I am jumping on the camp hayride and going for it.  I just signed up and I am awaiting cabin assignments. I apologize now for whoever has the job of reading my sign up form.  I was having a hot flash…either that or it really is hotter than the sun right now.  All I know is there had better be swimming and smores.   If you are at camp look me up: writechik.  I know, I am the worst at user names and passwords.

I’m not sure how this works.  My goal is to continue writing fantasy short stories, that will eventually have a connecting theme.  Wasn’t sure how to say that in my form!  Anyway, my husband will be so jealous.  He’s been trying to get me to go camping for ages.  I’ll bring the marshmallows.

There’s a few other groups I hope to join.  More on that later.

Who else is going camping?

  1. I’m on there. I have a modest target of 10,000 words. Nice thing about the camp is that you can apply any writing, not just a novel. I’ve got a bit of flash fiction to write for What Will You Write? (I’m joining as a participant, since I’m not judging), and I’ll count it toward my total. I’m jay-dee on there.
