It’s two weeks into CampNaNoWriMo. I am enjoying it more than I thought I would. I look forward to checking my stats and seeing where I am with my goal. Not that it’s going to change on its own. My WIP is a series of short fantasy stories that take place in the swamps and bayous of lower Alabama. My goal is 30,000 words and eventually 12 stories. I am on the 7th story. With each story the writing gets easier and my creativity seems better. These stories are more like really long rough drafts. There’s no editing or revising allowed. Just write the story down. I can add more, or delete, dialogue later. I have a notebook with notes and research that I am keeping along the way. There are times I can’t write, but I can do research or brainstorm.
Beyond writing, I am having fun with the sprints and the whole camp feeling of the July NaNoWriMo. I don’t know if I can join the November leg, that’s a busy month for me.
Row80 goals:
Reading: I am reading my first Urban Fantasy book. I like it, but the dialogue has a lot of 1930s lingo, that may get annoying.
Writing: Like I mentioned I am at the end of story 7 with 17262 of my 30,000 word goal.
No revisions.
No submissions.
My writing is on track, as is my reading, I still haven’t started revisions or submissions. I think those two will have time after July. Make sure you read how everyone else is doing on their goals for Row80.
How are your goals this week.

Ooh, I love the idea of your Camp NaNo story. I love fantasy that’s set in the “real world” (as opposed to some mythical country—not that that’s bad either).
Sounds like your goals are going well!

Thank you for writing about your Camp Nanowrimo summer writing. I’ve done Nanowrimo in November several times, not to achieve that magical 50,000 words, but simply to draft. This works well for me, despite it being a busy month. But I’ve shied away from Nano in the summer. Your post here helps me see it’s possible! Hope to see more of your stories. Enjoy the rest of the month. Maybe next year, I’ll join you. 🙂

I think I will make a point of joining NANO every summer. It’s fun.
