The South, if anything, is quirky. I know all regions of the country have their own little quirks. Maybe, I’m just overly fond of the South. (I am.)
Over the New Year’s holiday, we took the kids to Baldwin County. There’s a guy who built several odd things along the roadside to his Marina. I thought I would share a few pictures with you. Just for fun.
A life size replica of Stonehenge made out of fiberglass. It’s called Bamahenge! Why? Why not! It is the correct size, shape, and orientation as the real Stonehenge. I’ve been to Stonehenge and it is awe inspiring. This one was just fun. Great place for a picnic.
Here’s a little size comparison for you. A 10 year old is stuffed between the large rocks. But the fun doesn’t end here.
There are four of these nice looking knights placed in a wooded area in front of the Marina. They are somewhat life size, a little on the short side.
The trip ended up being a bit of a scavenger hunt. Searching for the next statue or replica. It makes you wonder what the story is behind them all.
Good, cheap fun! A trip to Baldwin County is never complete without a trip to the beach. It was cool, but not unpleasant, it would have been better if the wind wasn’t blowing. We were even treated to a flyover by the Blue Angels. That was awesome.
