It’s Christmas…Christmas…

The countdown has begun! Kids are out of school and chaos is the word of the day. We have the outdoor lights up and I am baking cookies at warp speed. I’ve checked my list…twice. I think I’m ready for Christmas. We still have a busy week. A massive grocery trip in the morning, caroling on Tuesday, and turkey frying on Thursday before the real festivities start. I don’t know who is more excited me or my girls.

This is an odd Christmas season. It is the first year no toys are under the tree. Not even a Lego set 😦 I’m not sure how I feel about that. We also haven’t had photos taken with Santa, I can fix that on Tuesday. But the biggest shocker…no letters to Santa. Yes, I’m a little misty over that. My girls have crossed over to the teenage realm. They haven’t said they don’t believe in Santa, but it’s obvious they don’t feel as they did last year. It’s a little sad. It feels like a bit of magic has gone out.

Hmmmm.

On with the goals for Row80.

I adjusted my goals and I’m going week to week at this point. I will do a round 4 wrap up later.

  • Enjoy every minute with my children, they are now walking into the dark, weird age of teendom. They won’t always want me around, so I will treasure the time I have left. Make memories. Working on that. We had a Christmas/birthday party for my hunny last night. My oldest helped me get all the nice dishes out and set up. It was fun teaching her how to set the buffet.
  • Thank God for the many blessings in my life. He is given more than I deserve. I will give to those in need.
    Check.
  • Finish critiquing stories/chapters for critique group.
    Check.
  • Finish daughter #1’s bedroom before Christmas.
We painted the ceiling, it might need another coat. We were going to paint the walls this week, but we have a forecast of rain and storms for the next week ! I’m not happy about that.
  • Clean my house! YUK!
Check, now I just need to keep it clean until Christmas.

Goals for this week:

  • Enjoy every minute with my children, they are now walking into the dark, weird age of teendom. They won’t always want me around, so I will treasure the time I have left. Make memories.
  • Thank God for the many blessings in my life. He is given more than I deserve. I will give to those in need.
  • Finish reading a stack of Christmas books I have on my table.
  • Attempt to edit Mystic Brew.

No much relates to writing, but it’s December! I hope y’all have a Merry Christmas.

  1. For the most part, I actually enjoyed my kids’ teen years. Now they’re in their 20s and 30s. Whew! Where did the time go? To be honest, I still miss Cuddle Time, but at least I can connect with my sons and DIL via Skype. My youngest still lives at home. When she gets the finances together, she’ll be flying the coop … as it should be. Anyhoo, have a wonderful Christmas. See you in Round 1 of 2016.
