It’s raining…again!

It rained almost the entire two weeks of Christmas break. I think the sun came out once. Now, it’s raining again. Yes, I’m using that as an excuse to not go to the gym. I sense a dance off in the near future. In honestly, I’ve been lazy this week and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve binge watched TV and read. A little chocolate was involved but not much. I’m switching to 70% cocoa, it has less sugar. Be sure to stop by the hub and leave a word of encouragement for the other participants.

On with the goals:

Row80 Round 1 Goals

-Participate in the weekly Health/Fitness Challenge at church. I am halfway through the first week and have found an excuse for not going to the gym everyday. I think that is some kind of record, even for me.  I did do some heavy lifting at the library 🙂 I am working on reworking my “diet”. Meaning I am actively looking for ways to cut out the sugar I eat a day. That counts for something. Right?
-Read 4 books a month, roughly 1 book a week. I’m doing the Mother-Daughter Reading Challenge with my girls. I ditched one book, DNF and started another. I’m halfway through it and love it. Love the characters and the writing. I want to read all in the series.
-Edit book 2 in my mystery seriesNada!
-Work on self-publishing Book 1. This round that means- participate in a manuscript swap and send MS to editor. I’ve worked a little each day on this swap. I think I should finish before the month is up.
-Institute Meatless Monday. This week it was meatless Friday. I don’t think cheese stuffed pasta is what the nutritionist had in mind, but everyone ate it. Please let me know if you have a family friendly meatless recipe.
-Keep up with the local Critique Group. I critiqued two this week and have two left.
-At some point I need to write a story I’ve plotted. Nada!

Edit/publish Mystic Brew. It’s screaming in the wings for attention.

How are your goals going?

-CK

  1. Wish I could help you with a meatless recipe. I just don’t eat meat, I don’t substitute anything. Just eat potatoes or pasta and a vegetable. And yogurt for lunch – I count that as my protein. I pretty much eat a horrible diet. Going without meat does not mean I eat healthy. Best wishes in finding foods that work for you family.

  2. We’ve kind of slid to vegetarian meals by first letting go entirely of red meat and using more chicken and fish. One favorite close-to-vegetarian recipe is Shrimp Fried Rice. I’ve also just learned how to meal plan by the week so am reading veggie cookbooks for inspiration. Have you seen the Moosewood Cookbook? Re exercise, yes, excuses can get in the way. So I’m celebrating little successes (10 minutes on the bike in our apt gym today), and hoping I will work up to the larger goal of 3x week/minimum of 1 hour each OR that perhaps more attainable 30 minutes/5x week. At the heart of your goals are those editing and writing commitments. Do you write/edit at a specific time? Sounds like your local critique group is a very helpful resource. Have a great week!

    • We are eating more fish. I love anything that comes out of a wok! I’ve checked out the Moosewood Cookbook. I’m just a little scared to try something too different. My kids can be picky. You have a great week.
