All Good Plans…

I had a neat experience today. It totally wrecked all writing plans, but it was so worth it.  My oldest has joined the school Scholars Bowl. Today was their first meet. I’ve never been to a Scholars Bowl and didn’t know what to expect. It was awesome, yes I totally geeked out. I had to cover my mouth to keep from yelling out answers. Basically, there are two tables with 5 students, each with a buzzer. An adult asks questions covering every imaginable topic. It brought back wonderful memories of playing Trivial Pursuit as a teenager. I loved it. Our team didn’t win, but they did their best.

When I make plans, something always gets in the way. I planned on eating healthier. Instead I’ve been living on a diet of mashed potatoes, soup, and scrambled eggs. I have TMJ and popped my jaw out of place when I yawned, a week ago. It’s better, but I still can’t eat anything firmer than fish. I’m also spending several evenings driving my young one back and forth to swim practice. I’m hoping by next week I’ll have the kinks worked out of my schedule and will actually make some progress. The silver lining is, I can’t eat candy. My hubby bought me a monster size box of Whitman’s Sampler and I can’t eat it. The kids are really enjoying it 🙂

Row80 Round 1 Goals

Be sure to stop by the Row80 hub and leave a little encouragement for the other participants.

-Participate in the weekly Health/Fitness Challenge at church. Meeting tonight, should be epic! Weight lifting class.
-Read 4 books a month, roughly 1 book a week. I finished Disappearing nightly by Laura Resnick. Awesome book and series. The library called to tell me The Martian by Andy Weir is finally waiting for me. That’s the next book on my TBR.
-Edit book 2 in my mystery seriesNada!
-Work on self-publishing Book 1. This round that means- participate in a manuscript swap and send MS to editor. I’ve worked on this every day.
-Institute Meatless Monday. Nope! i have eaten a lot of soft veggie soup and mashed potatoes.
-Keep up with the local Critique Group. Finished this for now. I have another meeting next week which will bring another round of papers.
-At some point I need to write a story I’ve plotted. Nada!

Edit/publish Mystic Brew. I’ve edited the first 2 or 3 pages, granted that doesn’t sound like much but I’m sifting through multiple critiques as I go.

I haven’t made as much progress as I would have hoped. Part of it was outside interference and part of it was me being lazy. I can feel myself slowly getting into the grove of this. Monday was a really good work day and I’m hoping today will be just as productive. I need to focus on what I can accomplish and not what feel to the side. I’m a wife and mother, like many of y’all, I’m busy. I know this but I can not concentrate on that. Just work on what I can. I think that may be my new motto.

How did your week go?

  1. Sorry to hear about your TMJ. I’ve had problems with that but never to the point of popping out my jaw. Just more like can’t chew gum or eat raw veges. Good luck with that. I could eat mashed potatoes for every meal for a week before I got tired of them!

  2. You’re accomplishing one of my ROW80 goals: Participate in Life with Other Humans. Never be ashamed of getting out of the house and interacting. You never know when something you see or hear outside will inspire your stories.
