Exploding Volcanoes

We are mid-way through Mardi Gras break. The carnival season is officially over, all that’s left is massive cleanup. What school break would be complete without homework? We have two projects to work on this week.

Daughter #1 and a friend built stage 1 in their Mt. Vesuvius project. I did my best to stay out of it, until the glue fight started. Then I stepped in to insure the safety of my walls and furniture. They completed just the paper mache model. It still needs to dry and to be painted. We have a small pile of Lego people, wheels, and bricks to represent Pompeii. It should be cool when they finish.

Daughter #2 and a friend are working on a project about the Savannah. Can’t wait to see how that goes. I’m positive Zebras will be involved. Zebras are always involved.

Useless note: As I write this, my girls are watching Jaws . I can’t get over them wearing long pants and turtlenecks…in summer. We barley wear that many clothes in February.

Participate in the weekly Health/Fitness Challenge at church.  Goal this week attend two workout classes and one day on treadmill.  Let’s be honest. The only exercise I have had is chasing beads at a Mardi Gras parade! Lovely photo of beads and hoola hoops left by the parades.

-Read 4 books a month, roughly 1 book a week. Check! I just finished I am Number Four. Not impressed. I just started the paperback Crimson Claymore by Craig A. Price Jr and the ebook Let’s Get Visible I should finish the ebook by Sunday.
-Edit book 2 in my mystery seriesNada! I’m tossing this goal for now.
-Work on self-publishing Book 1. On hold.
-Institute Meatless Monday.Total fail this week.
-Keep up with the local Critique Group.  I’ve read 3 and have 2 left. I also have to prepare something for them to read next time.
-At some point I need to write a story I’ve plotted.  1000 words last night when I couldn’t sleep.

Edit/publish Coffee.   Be on the lookout for this. If anyone would like to help with a release announcement the week of February 14, that would be awesome.

I actually feel like I’m finally getting into the swim of things. It felt so good to actually write last night. No computer, just pen and paper. It was wonderful. Editing and marketing are important for the modern indie author, but it’s useless if you don’t write. Always make time to write. Even if it’s just for 30 minutes a day. That’s my tip of the day. Just write.

How did your week go?

  1. Mine’s been going pretty well.

I need to handwrite more often. I do most of my work on the computer. I handwrote the beginning of a novella this past summer while camping and it felt wonderful. 🙂

Hey, I had to make a volcano when I was in school! And our teacher ran out of brown paint so I used a burgundy color (a mixture of several colors) and my partner, who was sick that fateful day, came back the next day and had a fit because “her” volcano was purple! I ended up in the counselor’s office because I totally freaked out and felt bullied. Fun times. Not.
