Those that have read my blog for a while know I love the library. It doesn’t matter if I have a stack of books on my TBR table, I keep going back. Since I’m a mood reader, each trip brings home a different genre of books.
Saturday was Library day!
I sorted through my unread books and decided most could go back to the library. Mainly because I was no longer in the mood to read
them. I kept a handful I still had high hopes to read. I loaded up the husband and kiddies and trekked to the hallowed halls of free books.
I cruised the kiddie section waiting on the young ones to get an armload before crossing the hall to the YA and adult fiction section. I was looking for dragon books, and mermaids but I’m always on the lookout for mermaid books. They are surprisingly hard to find. I found Dragons at Crumbling Castle by Terry Pratchett. I hear he’s awesome. The cover has a cartoon on a dragon in a bathtub reading. How awesome is that?
With the kids loaded down with books I cross the hall. I have to look quick, my oldest likes to cruise the shelves looking for books she knows I won’t let her read yet. Trying to catch me in a weak moment.
The Fantasy section is next to the YA section. The mystery section didn’t hold much interest for me this time. I walked down the aisle, waiting for a book to jump in my arms. I came across two books, actually 10 but I’m only mentioning two. The first, House of the Rising Sun by Kristen Painter, had an interesting cover. But the real reason I checked it out was the setting- New Orleans. I did glance at the blurb on the back, I have a suspicion that it’s going to be similar to the The Originals. The second is Charming by Elliot James. I remember reading something about this book last year and it sparked my interest. It looks like I have a monster hunter turned monster and the Knights Templar. What’s not to love!
I also have The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I don’t really want to read it. My youngest wants to read it and I don’t know enough about it so guess what- I get to read it first.
Looks like March is going to end up being Fantasy Fiction month! This doesn’t even count the books recently downloaded on my Kindle!
What did you recently check out from the library?

I checked out “A Gathering of Old Men” by Ernest Gaines. I’m halfway through it now, but I’m getting closer to the day when I have to return it. I’m not a fast reader, and sometimes, I’m not always able to get in good reading time. I’m definitely going to need an extension.

I love library extensions. I usually forget and end up owing late fees.

I definitely need to spend more time perusing the local library. I have to go there on Tuesday to vote in the primary, so it might be the perfect time to browse.

I have to vote on Tuesday as well! I recommend you browse the stacks after you vote. A small reward for doing your civic duty.
