Happy Spring!

I am so happy winter is over and spring is . . . springing! The down side is my allergies are trying to kill me. Everything is blooming. Especially our legendary oak trees. Yes, they bloom. They have tiny little yellow flowers, easy to overlook, that coat every outdoor surface in a thick yellow dust. It rained Thursday, washing away the pollen. As I drove down the street I was amazed at the rivers of yellow washing down the road. My black cat even looked like she was wearing a yellow sweater. Poor kitty.

Participant 2016 - Square Button

I’ve been busy at work on my next release. I spent a few days on the final edits and zipped it off to the editor Friday. I  have a bit of time to breath before she sends it back. Just enough to finish plotting a story I have had for a year. I wrote a brief synopsis last year, now I need to finish the plotting for Camp NaNoWriMo.  I’m not sure of the final length, I have a goal of 25,000 words. So excited. I always bring Roux to Camp NaNo, she enjoys the s’mores. I don’t do well during camp. I enjoy the sprints and camp games, but the word count is generally low.

The end of Row80 round 1 is coming up. Today is the last Sunday check-in, I assume Wednesday is the final day. I’m not sure. So on with the goals.

Participate in the weekly Health/Fitness Challenge at church.  Goal this week attend two workout classes and one day on treadmill.  Total failure.

Read 4 books a month, roughly 1 book a week.   I finished Sweet Tea Revenge (a cozy mystery) by Laura Childs. I enjoy her Tea Shop Mysteries. They are fun, light reads. Some are better written than others, this one was very good. 4/4 for March
-Edit book 2 in my mystery seriesNada! I’m tossing this goal for now.
-Work on self-publishing Book 1. This is my critique project. I have submitted the first 5 chapters. I have critique group this week.
-Institute Meatless Monday. We will have to change this next round. I don’t do meatless well!
-Keep up with the local Critique Group.  I’ve read all my pieces. I do want to go through them one more time before we meet.
At some point I need to write a story I’ve plotted.  Goal this week is: Finished!  25,976!

Edit/publish Mystic Brew.   Done!

This week I need to:

-I signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo so I need to plot out the story I plan to write. I’ve only thought about he plot.

edit Missing Children and send to editor before round 2 starts. Done, just waiting for word.

I think I’ve had a productive week. I have my next release at a good point. I have a tentative publishing date in mind and I should reach it. I even did a little promotion work for Mystic Brew. Yeah! That is reason enough to call this week a success.

How did your week go?

  1. Looks like you are doing all right on your goals – we all win some and we all lose some. Best wishes heading into CampNaNo. I signed up for it too, and haven’t done much prep work on my project at all. I’m hoping it all falls into place on April 1. We will see.

  2. You’re doing well! Any forward progress is good!

I’ve signed up for Camp, but I’m continuing a WIP that I had to set aside to do copyediting this month. 30,000 which should be doable for me. I also have another idea I want to explore soon, but probably after Camp is over.

Ah, yes. Allergies. I get shots every month b/c mine are absolutely horrible, and the shots keep things tolerable. I’ve actually gotten better over time. When I started the shots 10 years ago, I needed them every week. Now I’m down to one a month, maybe two if things get hairy, Allergies suck!

  3. That pic looks so pretty! While the snow is gone where I am, not much green is showing yet. And the flowers are still not coming out. :/ And while I hate allergies, I prefer them to snow!

I forgot about Camp NaNo. And April is right around the corner. I need to decide if I’m doing it, and if so, what WiP I’m going to work on. So glad I read your post otherwise it would have passed me by. 🙂

Have a great week and happy writing!

    • We never have snow! Winter is just gray and bare. Very depressing. It’s been very warm here, until this morning. You should do Camp NaNo if you have time. It’s a lot of fun.

  4. I know what you mean about fitness goals. Next week I plan to join the gym. I think it will be the kick in the backside that I need.

All in all, it sounds like you’ve done very well. Hope our paths cross next round … and maybe at Camp NaNo as well.

    Have a good one!
