Road Trip!
It’s summer and it’s the perfect time for a road trip. But you can’t take a trip without tunes. So far my list has 97 songs 137 songs. What makes a good road song? Easy-
- Fast beat.
- Loud.
- Easy to sing along to.
That’s basically it. But you do need a few slower songs to insure no speeding tickets. Here is my top 5 road trip songs:
- Radar Love by Golden Earring
- Schools out for Summer by Alice Cooper
- Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts
- Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon
- Ice Cream by Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton
and an honorable mention goes to: Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves
What’s on your summer playlist?

Music for road trips… oh, my, now there is a loaded question. I mean, I do need to update my mp3 player with some new stuff, but there are definitely some perennial favorites that we play in the car (most trip are road trips for us… it takes 45 minutes just for a trip to my husband’s office).
I don’t think I have any favorites, but there are these five that I always turn up when they come through the rotation:
Borsht jii by E-Type (I wish I could find a youtube version of this)
Rivers of Joy by No Angels
Here I stand and Face the Rain by a-ha
Happiness by Anzen Chitai
LemonTree (Chinese Dance mix)
Yat-kha’s Come Along is a good bet too, Or most things by Modern Talking…

Wow! It is rare for me to be totally stumped on music. I can honestly say I have never heard of any of those. That is awesome.

You can find all but the Borchstji on YouTube. That one I’d have to upload for you. I should… it’s a LOT of fun. Imagine techno and the Cossack Dance and you’ve pretty much got it.
I’m a musicaholic, even taught it for a while. My husband is a bit confused as to why I want over 80GB of mp3s in the house but….

Oh, and it’s fair enough… I’d never actually heard the Ice Cream song. Heard “of” it, but never heard it. 😀

I’d never heard the Jazz version. Now, I can’t stop signing it.
