Since I had over a week two weeks of recuperating from an injury, I had plenty of time to read.
Library:
The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd– WOW! The writing was beautiful. You know I checked it out because of the title. I din’ read the blurb. I never do. Writer’s spend so much time on blurbs and I don’t read them! So sorry about that. I pick books by titles and covers. If I had read the blurb I may not have read the book. I don’t like books about extra-marital affairs. But the way this book was written … i just loved it. The images of the island and the sadness surrounding her mother. Just read it.Sapphire Blueby Kerstin Gier- I have mixed feelings about this book. I really enjoyed book 1. I was disappointed with Book2. I may read book3 I haven’t made up my mind yet.The Best Exotic Marigold Hotelby Deborah Moggach- DNF- Seven Deadlies A Cauionary Tale by Gigi Levangie- I just love the title.
Kindle:
Never Buriedby Edie Claire- this is for the Goodreads summer challenge, letter (N).Alas, She Drownedby Monica Knightley- letter (A). I loved this book. Great fun read. An author I will read again.- Virtually Scared to Death by Gillian Larken- letter (V)
Mine:
- Storm Front by Jim Butcher. It took a while to find book 1 in the Dresden Files.
- Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell
Also finished:
How to Take Tea like the Britishby Jane Fleming- this was a short bit of nonfiction. It had a little history of tea as well as recipes for tea snacks.Vanilla Beaned (Cupcake Bakery Mystery #8)by Jenn McKinlay- This series is always great fun to read. This one has the added joy of being set in Las Vegas during an Elvis convention:)The Christmas Catby Melody Carlson- A sweet book.Eclair Case of Murderby Leigh Selfman- okay.A Whisker of Troubleby Sofie Ryan
Let me count…9 books read for August! That may be my personal best. I upped my Goodreads reading challenge to 80. That makes it 74% complete or 59/80. I’m also only 1 book away from completing the Cozy group Summer challenge. Now my fingers are unwrapped I hope to get back to writing.
I think the Mermaid Chair was my favorite read of the month.
What was your favorite read for August?
