October 2016 Final

My lovely black cat.

My lovely black cat.

I hope you have a wonderful Halloween. I will be keeping a close watch on my lovely black cat tonight. Must keep the queen safe. I did better than expected this month with reading. I didn’t read everything on my list, but I never do. I read a few seasonal reads, and have a few more I hope to read by Thanksgiving.

  • Killer Cupcakes by Leighann Dobbs- It was a light, quick read. I’m not crazy about it, but I’ll give the author another try.
  • Changing Habits by Alice Loweecey- Loved this ex-nun.
  • St. Valentine’s Day Cookie Massacre by Elisabeth Crabtree
  • Ghostly Interests by Lily Harper Hart

  • Storm Front by Jim Butcher – I really enjoyed this read it was both creepy and witty. Very dark read,I don’t think it’s true horror, but it’s as close as I’m going to that genre. The voice and writing were fresh but due to the topic, I don’t know if I’ll read another one.

  • Killer Cocktail by Tracey Kiely- I love this writer and series. It’s quick and funny.

Also read:

  • Hot Button by Kylie Logan- this was a fun read. It’s book 2 in the Button Box Mystery series. I’ll have to read book 1.
  • Greensmith Girls by Raven Snow. It was okay, a light fun mystery involving a family of supposed witches. No witchcraft involved.
  • The Beltane Kiss by Denise D. Young. This was a short story, a fairy tale. I really enjoyed this and need to read book 2.
  • Death on Eat Street by JJ Cook. This was book 1 in the Biscuit Bowl Food Truck Series. I read another one of these a bit ago and wasn’t impressed with how the writer treated my town. This book was better but not enough for me to read another one. The writing is fine, just not thrilled with the series.
  • I’ve Lost My Hippopotamus by Jack Prelutsky I wonderful book of kid poetry. I loved this book, heavy pages, and beautiful illustrations.

That’s a total of 9 books for the month. It brings the total to 74/80.

I have finished the October Mini Challenge on Goodreads. You can read the original post here. I’m about half-way through the Autumn mini challenge.  These are fun. I feel like I have  a deadline to meet 🙂
