WWW Wednesday 6-20-18

Today is a WWW Wednesday. A weekly meme originally started by Miz B but now hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

Feel free to join in the fun and let the world know what you are reading.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

I finally got in a little reading time 🙂

What are you currently reading?

Blade RunnerIn print, I am reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. I’m not a huge fan of reading Sci-fi but I’m trying. “Blade Runner” is one of the most famous movies from my childhood, but I’ve never watched /read it. I’m 30 pages in <sigh> Let’s just say it’s not an easy read.

Change of Fortune (Miss Fortune Mystery, #11)On my kindle, I am reading Change of Fortune by Jana DeLeon, book 11 in the Miss Fortune Series. If you haven’t read one of these, pick it up. They are hysterical. I’m making plans now to be Gertie when I’m retired.

What did you recently finish reading?

I finally finished Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Yes, it was worth all the hype. Much better than A Court of Thorns and Roses. Just my opinion.

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her … but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead … quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I know I didn’t get to the book I had planned last week. But I feel the need to mix it up.

Dracula [Kindle in Motion]It’s time for Dracula by Bram Stocker. This could take a while and I want it read by August. Again, I bought this just because it moves 🙂

What are you reading this week?

  1. I’ve tried to read Do Androids Dream… a couple of times and have never gotten very far. Philip K. Dick doesn’t always make a lot of sense. But I think I’ve liked every one of the movies based on his books. 😉
