Happy Spring!

I am so happy winter is over and spring is . . . springing! The down side is my allergies are trying to kill me. Everything is blooming. Especially our legendary oak trees. Yes, they bloom. They have tiny little yellow flowers, easy to overlook, that coat every outdoor surface in a thick yellow dust. It rained Thursday, washing away the pollen. As I drove down the street I was amazed at the rivers of yellow washing down the road. My black cat even looked like she was wearing a yellow sweater. Poor kitty.

I’ve been busy at work on my next release. I spent a few days on the final edits and zipped it off to the editor Friday. I  have a bit of time to breath before she sends it back. Just enough to finish plotting a story I have had for a year. I wrote a brief synopsis last year, now I need to finish the plotting for Camp NaNoWriMo.  I’m not sure of the final length, I have a goal of 25,000 words. So excited. I always bring Roux to Camp NaNo, she enjoys the s’mores. I don’t do well during camp. I enjoy the sprints and camp games, but the word count is generally low.

The end of Row80 round 1 is coming up. Today is the last Sunday check-in, I assume Wednesday is the final day. I’m not sure. So on with the goals.

Participate in the weekly Health/Fitness Challenge at church.  Goal this week attend two workout classes and one day on treadmill.  Total failure.

Read 4 books a month, roughly 1 book a week.   I finished Sweet Tea Revenge (a cozy mystery) by Laura Childs. I enjoy her Tea Shop Mysteries. They are fun, light reads. Some are better written than others, this one was very good. 4/4 for March
-Edit book 2 in my mystery seriesNada! I’m tossing this goal for now.
-Work on self-publishing Book 1. This is my critique project. I have submitted the first 5 chapters. I have critique group this week.
-Institute Meatless Monday. We will have to change this next round. I don’t do meatless well!
-Keep up with the local Critique Group.  I’ve read all my pieces. I do want to go through them one more time before we meet.
At some point I need to write a story I’ve plotted.  Goal this week is: Finished!  25,976!

Edit/publish Mystic Brew.   Done!

This week I need to:

-I signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo so I need to plot out the story I plan to write. I’ve only thought about he plot.

edit Missing Children and send to editor before round 2 starts. Done, just waiting for word.

I think I’ve had a productive week. I have my next release at a good point. I have a tentative publishing date in mind and I should reach it. I even did a little promotion work for Mystic Brew. Yeah! That is reason enough to call this week a success.

Sunday Row80

It’s Sunday, so that means a new update for Row80.  This week has been a bit odd, but I did make some progress.

Goals:

Writing: new novella.  25,000 words.  Finished! It didn’t reach 25,000 words.  I think it’s 22,000.  I know once I start revisions/editing I will have more words.  There are several scenes that need to be added, but the bones are there.

Editing:  Edit my NaNoWriMo project, first 50 pages.  Nope.  I plan on working on this now.  I signed up for NaNoWriMo Camp and editing will be my project.

Submissions: Submit to one editor/agent a week.  I can’t remember.

Health: One exercise session a week.  No.

The Great Purge: Taking one room at a time. I started on the kitchen cabinets, slowly sorting through those.

W&*(^t :  Goal 3 healthy snacks a week. Let’s not even go there.

So there you go. I made some progress, but I may be going back to work soon.  That’s kind of messed up my flow.

Stalled

Row80 and CampNaNoWriMo

I have accomplished nothing since Sunday.  Not a word has been written or edited.  I have done a little reading, but not in a new genre.  I have school starting in a week and I am trying to get the kids and house ready.  Amazing how everything changes for school.  Swim stuff is replaced by school stuff.  Areas of the house change in use, some must be reserved for backpacks and shoes…you get the idea.  So now with the end of NaNo I am at 23.490.  I’m hoping that be this time next week, even though it is the fist week of school, I will have more time to write/edit.

How are your goals?

This week started out well, but ended flat.  I think the looming deadline for CampNaNoWriMo put an invisible wall in my mind.  The creativity just stopped, or at least concerning the project for NaNo.  After a few days of staring at a blank screen, I’m OK with that. Add to the approaching threat of school starting in a week and a half.  I got stuff to do.  I made great progress in my WIP and I had a fun with the sprints.  So even though I did not reach my 30,000 word goal I am proud of what I did accomplish, and there are 5 days left.   So on with my goals.

Reading:  I started a new fantasy novel.  It’s not a new sub-genre for me so technically it doesn’t count.      But it is a new author 🙂

Writing:  I made it to 23,490 out of 30,000.  I’m good with that.

No submitting or editing was accomplished but I did make a decision to research uploading a short story for e-readers.  Don’t even know where to begin for that.

I hope your goals are on track and that if you are a participant in CampNaNo keep up the good work.
