Kindle:

Gator Bait by Jana Deleon.   Loved this book. Fast paced and funny.
Nun Too Soon by Alice Loweecey. This is book 1 in a new series for me.
Code Blue by local author Joyce Scarbrough A really good short story and slightly frightening.
Nikolas and Company Book 1 by Kevin McGill
DNF, I’ve realized I don’t care for steampunk. I enjoyed most of this book and was a bout half way thorough when they started with the gears. Quickly lost interest after that. I think my girls would love it, so I’m passing it on to them. It’s a middle reader book.

Library:

Once Upon a Crime: A Brothers Grimm Mystery by P.J. Brackston  DNF. It started out strong. Interesting concept and funny. I tired quickly of the voice.
Chocolat by Joanne Harris I wrote an entire post on this book. I loved it. Nothing like the movie but worth the read and now I need to own a copy.
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson DNF. I just wasn’t into it.
Disappearing Nightly by Laura Resnick This is book 1 in the Esther Diamond Series. It took a while to find too. I actually had to buy this one online. I just read my first Diamond book, I think it was book 5, and I loved it. I want to read the rest of the series in order. I have a feeling it will be a bit like an Easter egg hunt to collect them all.

I also finished:

The Map of Moments by Christopher Golden and Tim Lebbon.

That’s not bad. I didn’t finish everything, but I did discover a few gems as well. Next month will be interesting with NaNoWriMo and all.

What did you enjoy reading this month?

Did I miss a day this Week?

We had two days out of school this week, so my writing week was shortened as well. I have accomplished nothing since Wednesday, at least that’s how it feels. Thursday we went to New Orleans and played all day. That was great fun. I love New Orleans. I still can’t figure out how it became such a strange city! Friday was errands and Saturday was recovery day! I’ve thought about my goals and banked a few blog posts, but that’s about it.

Row80 Goals

You can surf over to the Row80 hub and leave a little encouragement for the other participants. That would be awesome. For the record I have helped eat 2 or 3 bags of Halloween candy. This year’s costume will be : (drum beat please) a NaNoWriMo participant! How genius is that. I ordered a viking helmet and everything. We’ll see how many people get it.

1. Start revisions of book 2 in my Dragonfly Mystery Series-
I’ve completed one read through. It needs lots of work. Goal is to revise/edit the first 100 pages- nada
2. Send out queries for Dead in the Water-
Not yet, I hope to have a list of possible places soon.
3. Plan one new short story- Nope
4. Edit/Revise Mystic Brew– I have a local critique group coming up and I need to decide if I should edit it before or wait to see what they think.
5. Finish plotting Book 3 in my Dragonfly Mystery Series I have an idea of what’s going to happen. This will be what I write for NaNoWriMo, so I have to do this in October- Done
6. Participate in NaNoWriMo and write 50,000 words- That’s in November
7. Read 8 books that’s for the whole round 4.   I’m on track I’ve read 3, trashed 2, and in the process of reading another.
8. Be a good human and socialize online Goal- Check
9. Be a good Baptist and join a Wednesday night group– Yeah, I’m think this may not happen
10. Finish my daughter’s bedroomDoors are finished, bought hinges, worked on lighting.

I have made a little progress, I’m just super focused on NaNoWriMo prep.

How are your goals going?

My Kindle has gotten out of hand. I now have 52 titles on my device, I won’t admit to what’s on the cloud. To make matters worse, I just discovered an online discount book store. Like I need more temptation.
This is my TBR list for the month of October. Half are from my Kindle and the others are books borrowed from my second home, the Library.  I’m expanding Friday Finds to my October reading list.

Kindle:

Gator Bait by Jana Deleon. This is book 5 in the Miss Fortune Mystery Series. I love this series.
Nun Too Soon by Alice Loweecey. This is book 1 in a new series for me.
Code Blue by local author Joyce Scarbrough This is actually a short story.
Nikolas and Company Book 1 by Kevin McGill The whole premise of this book made me buy it. Mermen on the moon!

Library:

Once Upon a Crime: A Brothers Grimm Mystery by P.J. Brackston Another new series for me. I picked it up because the cover is awesome!
Chocolat by Joanne Harris I checked it out because this is one of my favorite movies of all time! I’ve heard her books tend to be a bit melancholy. I just hope it’s as good or better than the movie.
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson This one looks a bit creepy. I know nothing about it, other than the cover. Should be perfect for October.

There’s my list. I think I can read 8 books in October. The problem will be not getting distracted by new books.

What’s on your TBR list?

I almost forgot. There’s still time to take the poll. What should the town be named in my WIP?
