Only 2 Days Left…

Only 2 days until election day. I think like most Americans I am ready for this election to be over. Regardless of your political beliefs please vote on Tuesday. It is the responsibility of those living in a democracy to vote. That is all I have to say.

I’ve had a difficult week, busy busy busy. The schedule I created did help, I need to tweak it a bit. I didn’t accomplish as much as I had hoped. I injured my shoulder (don’t ask me how I don’t know) and the pain has made it difficult to sleep which has made it hard to write.

Not to mention grumpy 😉

Yesterday, daughter #2 had the last swim meet before sectionals. Sectionals is the big meet to make times to go to state.  She did well. She made the time for the 50 freestyle, she didn’t make it for the 100 butterfly (her favorite stroke) but she did improve her time by 3 seconds so I think that’s a win.

I’m not sure if I will continue Row80, I’m not thrilled with the Facebook bit. It shouldn’t make a difference but it does. I’ll try to hang on through the rest of this round. It could be my shoulder talking. Anyway, let’s get to it.

Row80

Round 4 will run until December 22. The group now uses Facebook to check in. Be sure to pop over there and see how the rest of the group is doing. You can find my full post of goals here. I am listing the weekly goals.

Where did fall go?

Halloween is tomorrow. My little goblins are excited for trick-or-treating. My hubby is sick today. I hope he is well to go tomorrow night. He’s spent the last few months making his costume and I would hate for him not to wear it. Fall has left us and summer has returned. Bummer.

My daughter is ready for Christmas, she is begging to put the tree up. I still have Halloween decorations up and she’s ready for Christmas 🙂 She takes after me.  I didn’t make as much progress as I had hoped this week. I was distracted with sewing and getting ready for the release of Fantastic Creatures. So let’s get on with the goals.

  • Exercise 3 days a week. Exercise on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Only 1 day this week.
  • Make a list of all the writing projects I have.
  • Make a daily schedule using weekly goals. I like to say my mental schedule is enough…

  • Keep up with critique group.
  • Participate in 3 meme’s.
  • Edit Stella.
  • Finish plotting my NaNoWriMo project. I have a few cards worked out. I’m not through with it. Still trying to plot it out. I have about a dozen cards and the main characters sketched out.
  • critique 1 piece for group
    not at all
  • finish set 3 edits for DITW
    not at all
  • Brainstorm ideas for a blog hop for my new release

Goals for this week

  • Exercise 3 days a week
  • Read 1 book
  • Exercise 3 days this week
  • Sort out a schedule.
This is really important. NaNoWriMo starts Tuesday and I still have other projects to work on as well. I’ve pre-ordered my “winner” T-shirt 😉 It would be a shame not to reach 50,000 words. But in honesty, if I don’t but do complete the edits for DITW– I’m okay with that.
  • Write 10,000 words for NaNoWriMo! Yikes….
  • Participate in 3 meme’s
  • critique 1 piece for group
  • finish set 3 edits for DITW
  • Go wide with Missing Children.

That’s a lot to do. I’m starting to have second thoughts about NaNo, but I love participating in this event.

How did you do this week?

Fall is in the Air

For two days we have had wonderfully cool, crisp air. I don’t think it will last long, I can feel the temps rising as I type. Pumpkins are everywhere, happy mums are blooming like mad, and a few trees have changed color (I’m ignoring the fact that it hasn’t rained all month). Fall!

At the store today I bought my first bag of cranberries and jug of apple cider. The only thing missing now is a bonfire with flaming marshmallows. I have a deep desire to roll my neighbor’s house 🙂 Sigh…

You Said What?

I’ve had a busy weekend. I started at a swim meet watching baby girl fly through the water before rushing to the local library to catch the last hour of a Writer’s Festival and then I finished up with the family at the annual Greek Fest. Busy but fun.

You may not know this, but I have a habit of asking stupid questions when I’m in a large group like a conference. As I sat listening to a panel on publishing today, I purposely sat on my hands so I couldn’t ask questions. I survived… until the book signing. Face palm.  Really, I should not be allowed in public without a keeper. I won’t give the scary replay, I’ll just leave it at the author was kind and polite 🙂

On with the goals.

Red is a fail.

Blue means I’ve made progress. A strikethrough means it’s completed.

  • Read 4 books a month. Finish Killer Cupcake by Leighann Dobbs. I’m on chapter 2. I finished Killer Cupcakes, it was a light read. I also read Changing Habits by Alice Loweecey. A short story that introduces her main character in the Giulia Driscoll series. I loved it, funny. I started reading Hot Button by Kylie Logan. I can’t imagine a conference for button collectors but I can’t wait to find out who the killer is. I love it. That means I have read 4 books in October!
  • Exercise 3 days a week. Exercise on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I did exercise 2 days a week. I’m getting there.
  • Make a list of all the writing projects I have.
Work out some sort of schedule, see next goal. I made my list and it’s huge. It didn’t help signing up for NaNoWriMo.
  • Make a daily schedule using weekly goals. I like to say my mental schedule is enough…
  • Limit my coke intake to 1 a week. Nope I had like 3, I think.
  • Prepare my submission for critique group.
  • Keep up with critique group. It’s tomorrow and I still have 2 to read. HELP!
  • Participate in 3 meme’s.

  • Edit Stella. This is my big goal for the week. I want Stella finished.

That’s it. That’s enough.

Row80 Round 4, 2016

I’m a little late. I’ve been busy with Halloween costumes and party planning. I’m sitting at the table among the remains of the party. Plenty of decorations still need to be tucked away. It was great with some very original costumes. The little break I had between rounds was a good thing because I accomplished nothing! Nothing writing related anyway. I will change things up a bit this round. I will only check-in once a week, twice is too much with little to show for it.

Round 4 will run until December 22. The group now uses Facebook to check in. Be sure to pop over there and see how the rest of the group is doing.

Round 4 Goals:

  • Read 4 books a month. Easy peasy. I love to read.
  • Exercise 3 days a week. I know, I have failed this every time I’ve included it on my list.  BUT I bought a Zumba set, I do enjoy Zumba, so maybe I can actually stay with it this time. The weather has cooled so I can’t blame my slug life on the heat. It was 58* when I woke this morning 🙂
  • Make a list of all the writing projects I have.
Work out some sort of schedule, see next goal.
  • Make a daily schedule using weekly goals.
  • Limit my coke intake to 1 a week. Trust me that’s a good thing.
  • Keep up with critique group. I haven’t even looked at it yet. Guess what I’m doing this week.
  • Have the next 3 sets ( chapters 8-17) edited using comments from critique group.
  • Submit one short story for publication.
  • Edit Stella. I love this story, I don’t know why I’m having a problem with edits.
  • Participate in 3 author meme’s on the web a week.
  • Write something!  Nothing like vague goals. I’ve been stuck in the edit cycle for a while and haven’t written much. That’s probably part of my problem, but I have difficulty doing both at the same time. I’m not good at multi-tasking.

Those are my broad goals for Round 4.

This week I hope to accomplish:

  • Read and critique all stories for critique group because I waited until the last minute.
  • Prepare my submission for critique group.
  • Finish Killer Cupcake by Leighann Dobbs. I’m on chapter 2.
  • Exercise on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
  • Make a list of writing projects.
  • Participate in 3 meme’s.

Check back here on Sunday to see how well I did.

How did you do with your first week of Row80?
